Need help to access a folder on a mounted disk image.
I use O&O Disk Image 7.2 to make images of my Windows 8 drive. Occasionally I need to mount an image to access folders and files. One folder I can't access is my user folder. I get the message 'You don't currently have permission to access this folder.' I took ownership of the folder but that didn't help. I get a similar result for the folder "C:\Windows\CSC" if you want to see how my user folder behaves.
How can I access my user folder on my mounted image?

Haven't tried that yet or tried it off a DI7 USB boot device. I'm just curious as to why I can get to Windows for example. I displayed the owner of the folders in a DOS box and got this:
Directory of I:\Users
8/02/2013 08:26 AM <DIR> NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM .
8/02/2013 08:26 AM <DIR> NT SERVICE\TrustedInsta..
8/21/2013 08:02 AM <DIR> BUILTIN\Administrators Gary
8/02/2013 08:26 AM <DIR> NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Public
0 File(s) 0 bytes
4 Dir(s) 235,839,651,840 bytes free
Does this help in gaining access to my Gary folder? Why can I get to it in an elevated DOS box. I was even able to copy a file I needed from the mounted image.

I tried to but it didn't let me change anything. As far as file restore in DI7 goes I can't do that from the image I have. DI7 has another way to make fold/file images and I could probably do it from there but I don't use this feature, I just make an image of the whole disk. However I bet if I boot into DI7 I could get to my folder.
Did you try to access the folder I mentioned in my OP? It looks the same as my Gary folder on my mounted image. Might give you some ideas.

If you named the built-in Administrator account "Gary", then it's it, otherwise it's just your normal "Gary" account that happens to be an administrator type account.
Yeah, I was able to take ownership of and set permissions for the "C:\Windows\CSC" folder and it contents from within Windows using OPTION THREE below to gain access afterwards.

Doesn't seem to work the same way. I am trying to change the permissions of the drive. When I click on Change the screen grays it out. The owner is TrustedInstaller btw. So I can't get past step 5.

Just thought of something. The image is mounted is read only. This must be why I can't change permissions do you think? I don't know if DI7 has a write mode. I'll take a look.
Just as I thought, read only. No way to write to it.

It still doesn't explain why everything worked in the DOS box. I'm thinking of getting hold of a Norton Commander type program that uses 'DOS'. Do you know of any that work on W8?
