More WiFi Issues

I'm a Microsoft Windows 8.1 user. I've had my laptop since Christmas. I've been letting it slide, but I'm starting to get a little mad. I can't play games without worrying about my WiFi. Other gadgets more perfectly fine using the WiFi. I get full bars when using my Laptop. I tried disabling my adapter and turning it back off, no luck. What's weird is, sometime it's lightning fast then five seconds later, it's crazy slow. It's been like this from the start.

Please help, thanks.

Some specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2840 @ 2.16GHz 2.16 Ghz.
Installed RAM 4.00GB (3.89 usable)
System type: 64 bit, x64.
Version: Windows 8.1
Wireless Adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Netwrork Adapter. V. 10.0.0.285(latest)

Could also be your WiFi router then. Make sure the wireless adapter on the laptop is not set to allow any kind of power saving or sleep mode. Does the router have a power saving mode? What model is it and does it have the latest firmware?

I doubt it's the router. My girlfriend's laptop works with the WiFi. I think it has the latest firmware, I'm not sure. Also, I've tried turning power saving off, all that good stuff.

Router specs:

Model: DPC3939
Vendor: Cisco
Hardware Revision: 1.0
Processor Speed: 447.28 MHz
DRAM: 524288 MB

Flash: 128 MB

So are you are with Comcast? I would talk to them and make sure you have the latest gateway and firmware. Will not hurt and always best to make sure you have the latest equipment your ISP has to offer before chasing other ghosts.

What OS does your girlfriend's laptop have?
