Solved Monitor Help

Most likely yes, you will have to download the drivers from your monitor manufacturer's website.

I never had to load driver for a monitor, and I think if it did win8 would do it for me, just saying how it was for me ,I have 3 monitors in the house ,and one is a dell, one viewsonic ,and a Samsung ,no driver issues for me

I agree with caperjack. The default monitor drivers will work just fine. The manufacturer drivers are primarily intended to add specific ICC profiles that may or may not be different from the default Windows profiles. In my case, I have the HP driver installed but the ICC profile is actually no different than the one Windows provides.

Okay. Well, we are looking into replacing my Mom's old Dell Windows Vista PC with an Acer Windows 8 PC. The Acer supposedly comes preloaded with Windows 8.1. So, with this monitor being so old, I figured it might be incompatible with a newer computer. If we do decide to not buy the whole package, then I don't want it to be a big pain installing new drivers for the monitor. Thanks for the help guys.
