Solved Missing Send To folder

Is this the one below that you used to restore "Mail recipient" with? If so, double check to make sure that it's unblocked.

Hi Brink, I downloaded from the list in tutorials/45421-send-context-menu-... Restore Mail Recipient
Downloaded the zip file, extracted to Desktop. Properties > Unblock > Apply. Then copied the short cut to the System Send To folder where it sits as "Mail_recipient"
When I use the right click menu Send To, the files are moved to this Mail_recipient folder, no other action.
I have run the install a number of times with the same result, which doesn't mean of course that I am not making the same mistake each time.

It should show as "Mail Recipient" in the SendTo folder instead of "Mail_recipient". That indicate that something may be wrong. Please go ahead and post a screenshot showing your SendTo folder after copying the extracted and unblocked "Mail Recipient" file into it to see if something stands out.

Hi Brink, Hope the attachment has worked, Send To folder contents and properties.

Desktop_(create shortcut) Mail_recipient

Both folders are empty - 7 bytes In attributes, Read only has a little black square in the centre of the box.

Am I making a mistake somewhere in the way I am opening the zip folder. I have tried opening it and then copying to
the System send to folder, and opening it in the System send to folder and then deleting the original zipped folder
leaving the extracted folder.

Be sure that you do the steps in the tutorial below exactly as written to extract to your desktop first, unblock, then move extracted file (not ZIP folder) inside your SendTo folder.

It will not work if you do it directly in SendTo instead.

Hi Brink, This is what I have

System Send To folder Name - Mail Recipient.MAPIMail Type - MAPIMAIL file

Now though, when in the right click menu, click Send To, it shows only BD-ROM DRIVE E

It sounds like you may have done something wrong. Please delete the "Mail Recipient.MAPIMail" file, and start over using step 5 in the tutorial. Be sure to do each step exactly.

Hi Brink, No, looks as if it will have to wait for a full system restore.

Download to Desktop, unzip to Desktop using Extract all in menu. Clicked unzipped file Properties, clicked
Unblock, Apply, OK. Cut, Copy, Drag, tried them all, to Send To System folder.
No Mail recipient when clicking Send to in menu.
Only time I could get Send to menu to show Mail recipient was when the downloaded file was extracted and opened in the System Send To folder but that is of no use either.
Whatever caused the System folder to be missing must have removed some other necessary data.

That sounds correct then. Sorry it may come down to a factory restore.

As a test for now, create a new administrator account for yourself to see how Send to works in it.

In addition to the 'sendto' folder in your roaming profile, do you have a 'sendto' shortcut to that folder in your ...\users\name folder as well?

Hi Brink, Thanks, I can see how to add to Users, but I don't know what I need to add. You mentioned a shortcut.
do I copy and paste this, and from where? If it is an address could you please type the required entry.
Is it just an empty Send To folder? It is an area I have not been before and obviously requires caution.

Nar, you would just create the new account, then sign in to it to see if "Send to" works in that account versus your other account. That's all.

Hi Brink, OK now I have it, Create another User account and see what is in that. Done that before,
thought you meant adding a shortcut to the existing account.

I'm afraid the only thing that I know of left to fix this would be to refresh Windows 8.
