Yes that's a 1TB Seagate you have there. Don't worry about old driver, the way drives work haven't changed for long time.

True a lot of drivers come from 2006 for basic hardware. The only changes are for new technologies.

Only drivers you will find are for controller, not disk itself. Even for brand new SSD, drivers are same vintage.

Sorry, I meant whatever someone said I had to update. Nobody replied to this thread for so long I forgot about it.

Anyways, I just found out that it's safe to press the "End Process" button. I accidentally did so and the computer remained frozen for a few seconds until an open window that was apparently causing the problem was closed.

It doesn't mean the problem is solved, though. I don't know why the computer isn't using the regular window (which shows a progress bar of Windows trying to solve the error), because that's way less frustrating than this one. I don't know what to do at the moment. There are some suggested methods on other sites, but I don't want to try them while trying to solve the problem here.

The problem is, whenever I have Task Manager open at the time of a 100% disk usage freeze, different programs were using the most. During one freeze it was the Box Background Manager, at another one it was Service Hosts, and so on. The odd thing is is that the highest disk user only ends up with up to 10 MB/s, which I am pretty sure is not a large amount.

I will try the Download Process Explorer and post anything I find.

EDIT: I ran Process Explorer, but I am not sure what to do with it. There are a bunch of programs, Windows services and others, but I don't understand most of what the columns are displaying. There's "Process" for the name, "CPU" for probably CPU Usage, "Private Bytes", "Working Set", "PID", description and company name. Is the explorer supposed to show something during the freeze?

Next to CPU click the private bytes header so it organizes from most used to least used, to see what processes are being used most. Then you can right click the most used individually and choose properties to see a hoard of things. What you want to look at is the performance tab to see the resources being used. If there is an item you're not sure about you can right click again and send it to Virus Total to see if it is malware(it checks with some 20+ different Anti Virus's and open up your browser to the site to check the results individually.

Alright, I checked a few and they had no Virus Total. However, some other processes that I tried to scan just displayed "The system cannot find the file specified." What do I do with those?

I never had that before so I don't know. There is a help file you can take a look in to learn what is what for. For example the color coding(which can be set to your preference).

Try pressing your F1 key and see if it opens.

Try opening an admin command prompt and copy & paste Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause and let it run through then reboot and run it a second time to see if errors were fixed.

The command displayed that it found nothing wrong, same thing happened after reboot.
