Lots of Crashes

So I am working on those drivers right now but was just curious as to whether or not a factory reset would help. Would you recommend doing that or just keep trying solutions?

I'd try all of the 8.1 drivers from Sony first.
If that doesn't work, then I'd suggest a restore to Win8

    Touchscreen on laptop/32" Toshiba on HDMI (laid the Sharp TV on a mouse and cracked the screen!)

    One Samsung 1tB drive - 5400 rpm. Gonna switch to a 7200/10000 rpm or an SSD (if I can find $500 for a 1tB SSD!)
