Locate Laptop from Android

I am not sure how to start a new thread, I only know how to start a new question by "replying to thread".

Question: I had a "Certified Data" laptop and I could easily find my phone using Android Device Manager.
Now I have an Acer laptop and it won't do that. I spent hours trouble shooting every possible thing
to do per websites, threads, blogs. I am nervous about "drivers" because so many sites want me to pay something.
I have updated the Microsoft Windows drivers. Still to no avail. What do you think?
