Solved Lenovo G50-70 - Installing W8.1 cannot detect HDD

Im trying to install Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo G50-70 but it needs a driver to see the HDD (1TB disk)

Can some one help me to find the driver ??? I´ve been trying find it in Lenovo´s site but without any luck

Try here and choose storage and windows version.

It doesnt work, its an .exe

Does your UEFI/BIOS see the disk? And are you just updating from 8 to 8.1? Or clean install? because windows default drivers should see the disk.

Yes the BIOS see the disk. Im trying to do a clean install of W8.1 - Its a brand new laptop with, you know, a lot of preinstalled crap I dont want.

In UEFI is your disk set for GPT, safe boot on, fast boot on?

I tried both with no luck

Is the disk already formatted to ntfs ?

Its preinstalled with w8.1 home. So I guess yes
But maybe it could help with a clean format?

Oh one other question before it's too late...I realize you're trying to do a clean install but: Have you first made your recovery disk using windows own create a recovery drive and/or the Lenovo onekey recovery if your system came with it(first thing I did) in case something goes wrong?

Hello, I am having the same problem. When trying to install windows 8.1 its asking for drivers, but it wont tell me which ones. Anyone have a fix for this?

Please help!

Your welcome, I'm glad you got it working. Windows 8.1 can be harder with clean/custom installs but in the end it's worth it.
