I installed 8.1 on my new system but, mistakenly, selected "UK" keyboard with the "pound" sign and @ and " swapped about etc.
I was using an old corded keyboard and mouse because my "good" ones were on my "old" system so when I swapped to US keyboard and noticed the silly things continued to happen I attributed them to the "old" keyboard.
I bought a "cheap" combo but the silly thing continued to happen so I thought I would ask you smart people for help
What happens is - while typing when I press the double quote (beside then Enter key on top of the single quote) nothing shows on the screen. If I now press the space bar then the double quote shows without the "space".
If I press the double quote then the shift/o, for instance I get - Ö (In case it doesn't show) an O with an umlaut.
I remember having this problem YEARS ago (on XP) and do not remember how I fixed it (retired old man here!)
Could someone please tell me how to fix this? It is annoying the **** out of me
I did "Google" this but the solutions appear to be for Windows 7 and not specific to 8.1. I can't see how to remove the "'International" suffix from my US keyboard in 8.1
