Solved Jump List impossible to read, can't change apperance

I love my new laptop (ASUS Zenbook ux303la), and Windows 8.1 seems alright so far, except for this really annoying issue. Whenever I right-click on an icon in the taskbar, the color of the jump list that pops up is so dark as to make the text unreadable. I've done tons of google searches, but can find no way to lower the intensity of the color, or change the jump list's appearance in any way. Anyone know a way to fix this?

That looks like the same problem we've been seeing here lately, it's related to this update KB3072318.

They have reported success by uninstalling that update.
