Need Help Installing OS on SSD

Hi, I will soon be purchasing an Alienware X51, but I am choosing to separately buy a Crucial SSD to install the OS on. I can find videos on YouTube detailing how to physically install the SSD, but it would be very helpful if someone could give me to a detailed guide on exactly how to install the OS on the Crucial SSD upon the initial booting of the computer (without having to first install it on the HDD.) I am very new to this, so I would really appreciate help.

Are you going to install Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 on the SSD? If 7 then stay with your thread there, otherwise leave that one and stay here.

I was planning to install 8.1, but I thought that was kind of irrelevant considering the OS doesn't really relate to the post.

The OS is important as far as install, especially to an SSD. Windows 8 has built in support for SSD, Windows 7 does not or at lest it is not as good as Windows 8 support.

Actually, all you have to do is to make sure SATA port is set to AHCI i the BIOS, other than that there's no difference between SSD and HDD as far as installation is concerned.
