Solved Installed Win 8 on separate partition - want to uninstall?

The Op should also take note that if you dare to uninstall Win 8 from a dual boot drive it will yank the boot files away from the Windows 7 installation and hose it good until you fix it.

Had to be said as this little quirk with Windows 8 drove me insane.

Can you tell me how you fixed it in case I run into that? Is it putting the Windows 7 disc in and running the repair?

Thanks for the heads up...

There are other ways to do this through the command prompt I believe but one way is to run a start up repair on Windows 7 three times in order to replace missing boot files, which is also a royal pita in my opinion.

So that is the easiest way to fix it?

In thinking about this issue when I want to remove Windows 7 some day, I assume it will remove windows 8 boot files as well? If so would I be any better off by putting each os on a physically separate hard drive?

I believe you can remove Win 7 without problems.

I also heard that if you add a mini partition between the Win8 and Win7 partitions it would prevent the boot problem from occurring but haven't tested that yet.

I don't follow what you are trying to do.

Perhaps I will leave to those who have already contributed to this thread - don't want to confuse anyone.

Hi si
The raid drive was marked active (disk 0) & the Windows 7 drive (disk2 partition 1)
Windows 8 add boot file to raid drive, & install to Disk 2, Partition 2. with no dual boot.

Is there an easy way to get the dual boot working without deleting the volume and reinstalling it? I thought that was the only way I could fix it correctly. I would prefer to leave things installed if there is a way to fix the dual boot problem.
