I'm done with Windows 8

I don't have this Nalperion Bonaparte service running

Cute. This is what I'm referring to. A forum message on the MSDN web site mentioned that stopping this service prior to manually installing that update would allow it to complete its update before the restart. In my case that worked.

Alright.

In a default Windows install you don't have that service. Where is it coming from?

It's probably something that one of my software applications installed with it so it can validate its license against a server. If you don't have it, don't worry about it. According to the MSDN thread I was reading the service was blocking installation of the update and suggested stopping it.

What is the Nalpeiron Software Licensing Service

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    System Manufacturer/Model
    Dell Inspiron 17R / Dell XPS 8300
    CPU
    Intel i5 (17R) / Intel i7 (XPS)
    Memory
    8GB / 8GB
So I see. Are you having trouble installing the update?

I have 0 update failure until now. But take note that my PC is clean, well until yesterday when I install Classic Start menu, I will see if it will change. By clean I mean that I use Defender, no third AV and no apps to tune PC and similar crap

Sounds like you're in good shape then. With all my development tools & stuff I have a pretty complex system so an occasional hiccup like this isn't a surprise.

I don't do much but I tend to put my development tools in VM's, in case I'm dealing with unstable software.

Anyway, the important thing is that the issue is fixed. :)
