IE11 annoyance

Opera** does not allow me to faithfully copy text from emails to site, which I do a lot of seeing as how I get a lot of info via emails; it also copies the background. Same with Chrome. So I don't use them. I have just deleted FF (again) due to misalignment of web pages online. So ........................................

Now back with IE11 but same old fault - opening IE in full screen instead of a half page. There is a solution but damned if I can remember it, it involves opening web, dragging screen full size then - something to do with opening another over it, but cant remember now.

** hell with it, going with opera, fed up of others problems, at least opera works, just added wordpad to desktop to clean C&P from emails.

Hi,
Internet explorer will remember the (last closed) window size,
I guess one tip might be do not touch the screen borders or the dragged window will snap to full screen,
This might interfere with the memory never has for me though,

Hi,
All I can say is it's not normal,
Go to Internet options,
General section Tabs button and post a screen shot of the options being used,
One tip might be to take the option away from ie to Let ie decide how pops are opened,
Choose either a new window or a new tab,

Also Internet options/ Advanced and check the top box to use software rendering...

As requested. I did the software rendering tick box, some pages open full screen, others do not. If I click a web link on my desktop, it does not open full.

Are you clicking on the exe file or the shortcut ?






It won't work with the exe file, just the shortcut.

Is ie11 pinned to your Taskbar if so,
Right click it,
Then right click the Internet explorer listing then click on Properties

I may get a lot of backlash for this, but I get a little tired of those who just post to express their opinion of Windows 8 or IE or whatever.

I consider the purpose of forums like this to help people with their problems, not to berate a certain OS, application or feature. Sure, if you consider another browser superior to IE, and that is the problem that the person is dealing with, then give them the REASONS why it is better. At least find out what their problem is and make sure that their problem will be resolved by the other browser.

I did several tests of the IE 'pop-up' problem and didn't experience a single time where IE all of a sudden popped up in front of my files I had highlighted. In fact, IE handled it quite elegantly. The IE icon on the task bar started glowing on and off just enough to let you know that something needed your attention. The same thing happens in other browsers as well.

Then when I hovered over the icon, I was able to see the 2 IE windows and choose the one I wanted to go to. Never did it affect the selection of files in the other window.

Here's a screenshot. I would suggest that that you recheck the behavior and try to duplicate it. I would also check your list of IE plug-ins to see if something there could be affecting IE default behavior.

I think IE is best left alone, stock with no extensive modifications, I just agreed to everything it asked when opened first time and that was it. Nothing "strange" popped up or happens with it. I don't use it much, only when checking compatibility of some site if I suspect there is a problem with other browsers. FF has been my "poison" for many years and I'm used to it more than to other ones. FF hails from Netscape I started with at the time of internet infancy and you can still see some similarities.
IE is deeply embedded in the system and changes to OS, specially of security variety reflect in IE.

I am on win 8.1, I do not have the screen as you portray, that's 7 isnt it?

If I right click on the icon in the taskbar, it opens IE no matter what. I tried anything that lead to IE

I used IE 11 on my new computer & it crashed & did weird things, often.
I am no novice at using Browsers.

I finally gave up on IE 11 & tried Chrome.
It crashed & did weird things too.

Then I tried Opera.
Over a year ago.
It does not crash or do weird things.
It works good.

The only way I can help you with IE 11 is to suggest you stop using it & go to Opera.
Good browser.
Stable.

Do as you will.
If you can get IE 11 fixed, the more power to you.

Somehow, I get the feeling I will get bashed for writing this.
My intent to help is sincere.
Then again, The Road To Hell is paved with good intentions...
