I want Control Panel to open in Category mode

I mostly use W8.1 in classic mode, and it frustrates me when Control Panel opens in Large Icon view rather than Category view. I want it to open in Category view as that is what I am used to.

I know that it is easy to change it once I am there, but I am wasting time and mouse clicks.

I have tried other solutions defined in this Forum, but they do not seem to work. Any suggestions?

use the view by setting right upper part of page

KYHI - thank you, but that change only establishes that view for that session of Control Panel. I want to open it in Category view rather than have to re-set it each time.

I know that it is easy to reset, but it is frustrating to have to do it each time

I use Classic Shell (a Start Menu look-alike) through the W8.1 Classic interface. I also have a shortcut to it on my desktop that should avoid any spin that Classic Shell uses. In either case, even if I reset it to Category in the window, it reverts to Large Icon view on next opening

Further to the above, if I use the Charms thing on the right of the screen to get to Control Panel (Settings, Control Panel), the Category View sticks.

So, inconsistent delivery between Classic and Iconised 8.1, I feel
