Greetings,

This problem happens frequently (at least once a week) and leaves me with no other option than powering off using the power button.

The respond time of different programs starts getting very long, the touchad stops responding, the task manager shows only 0% for every program, lots of after none of the configured DNS server responded errors in the event viewer.

I ran sfc /scannow 3 times after DISM-ing the computer. Everything succeeded.

The problem persists.

Thank you for your support.

hello and welcome to eightforums ,I would scan the hard drive for errors ,using the utility from the harddrive manufacture

Hi!

I did the UEFI Hp Laptop system test and everything PASSED.

Hi!

I did the UEFI Hp Laptop system test and everything PASSED.
First off, there is no such thing as a UEFI system test. As caperjack stated, you need to run the hard drive test to check for a bad hard drive. Your freezing could be as simple as a stalled process that the OS cannot kill.

It helps to know what programs this is happening with, when you have to power off the laptop.

The test I ran was the Hardware check provided with Hp laptops. Pressing F2 while the computer starts and selecting system tests. I ran the test and everything resulted in PASSED.

Google Chrome seems to be opened when it happens. Task manager shows more than 1 Google Chrome (32 bits) program running.

the utility from the harddrive manufacture[usually not the same manufacture as the laptop ] is still the best for check the harddrive

I ran the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and the result was : PASS.

so,why are you reluctant to find out the maker of the hdd and run there utility to test the drive ,I have been doing this for years now,and there utility will be the best scan to run

C:\ Properties---

Windows C: drive scan reported no errors.

you are not getting my suggestion ,Why ?
i'm self taught [and don't know a lot of the new stuff !]but have been fixing computer for years and its my opinion that the windows scan is not as thorough as the hdd makers utility , you may run it and get the same results as the windows scan ,but at least you are getting a second opinion .

I suggest reviewing the Power Options - especially those setting that allow the HDD to sleep or power down. Try disabling any power saving settings and see what happens.

Bye.
