How to salvage Win 8 Pro on a SSD

I have come to the conclusion my 115 gb ssd is failing. Windows can't restore from a restore point and paragon
partition recovery could not finish.

Several of my programs will expire and I don't want to lose them.

If I reinstall Win 8 Pro with custom option onto my hdd will my programs be included?
I'll be getting a new SSD in three or four days. Next I think I will be able to migrate
to the SSD from the hardrive.

Or should I reinstall to the failing SSD. I am not postive it is failing.

Do you have backup system images?
Everyone should do backups.
if you still can before SSD dies try to do system image backup to external drive.
there is free software you can try
Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download
when you have image backup create boot media
boot from it with new HDD or SSD and restore your image from external drive.

What custom option do you have in mind when installing?
Usually when you do clean install you lose all of your settings and software except default apps bundled with windows. so you have reinstall them and configure to your liking.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have Paragon Partition manager and Easeus todo home and aomeni partition (guess at name) Not sure what i have to work with, windows log me in as a guest. Can I use macrium on flash drive?

I have Active Boot Disc and noticed i have a file with a long file name called mrimg file. Is this a Macrium file?

Partition manager differs from backup software.
Working with partitions can be dangerous maybe you messed up your partitions that why it doesn't work.

Yes on using usb drive.
I got my image of all local drives on a 32 GB usb.
You may or may not need a bigger one.

With Macrium it helps to add it to your boot options:

Thanks David, I been up all night and I am a little confused right now. I did not run paragon as the other poster thought. Some how I managed to not be able to get in windows at all now.I am using the win 8 pro 64 bit install disc to start. Now what should I do to get the macrium reflect to install in the proper place?

The Macrium program or the saved image ?

To install the image from the usb, insert the usb & restart.
When you restart, choose it to boot from.

Edit: I think I must install windows to my hdd and not on my ssd drive. Should I just unplug the ssd or leave and see if windows also lets the apps stay.

If you imaged all your local drives, everything is saved.
Installing to your hard drive on the computer is best.
I have no ssd myself, so cannot comment on it.

No i can't install to my hdd as windows will wipe out everything. I will have to wait for my new ssd to arrive.

I still have backups by paragon so I will try that.. Edit: no I just remmembered that my image had an error and would not finish.

Ok guys, one of my disc copies, made buy easus to do, worked. I will have to recustomize some of my windows 8 pro, but I will still have my apps installed. At least it is prepainng itself now. Hope I don't have to come and say that the disk copy didn't work.

No joy yet, windows assigned me a temporary user account and tells me i cannot do anything with my files...hope you guys have tutorial to address this.
Thanks to Brink's tutorial on elevated administrator's account, I am getting things back as they should be.

I attempted to use a restore point to get my user account back...but my restore point went back march 2013. And windows balked. Tried using sfc /scannow. Restarted and windows update is installing 71 updates. I'm beginning think a freshen pc will be better and install what programs I can after it completes.

Edit: Love this forum
