it does help to explain! but i still think it's weird 94,4 out of 128!

i've got a macbook pro (late 2011 version) with a Crucial M4 128GB i installed and nothing like this happened the differencies were about the same numbers you mentioned.

in this case the diference is almost 34GB!

i'll follow the steps you recomended and try to figure out the different partitions.

as i recall when running Paragon the total disk space available at the graphics was much more!

should i take the SSD out, put thw HDD in again, boot, format the SSD (don't know exactly how, but...using some app maybe...) and run Paragon again?

when i try to run "Recover", an app from Samsung it says it can't find the recovery partition and the program needs to be shut. tryed several times, always the same.

another strange thing, when i connect an external USB HDD to either port it is recognized by the system because i can see it in the disk manager, the icon to safely disconnect appears, i can see it under devices but...i can't "open" it because it doesn't appear under "my computer" or in the explorer!

with a Toshiba USB HDD connected:



the HDD works fine and is even recognized by my Mac (can read from it but can't write to it because it's NTFS, the usual with Mac OS).

i tried it with different external HDDs. same behavior. it starts to install the device, finishes and...nothing!

if i insert a pendrive it works perfectly!

This says it all!

So, you don't need to do anything.

The aka 120GB is actually seen as 119.12GB from where 500mb + 300mb + 94.43GB + 22.91GB + 1GB the total is.

So the c drive is in bold here above then the second partition that is reasonably big there is 22.94GB.

You don't need to recover if it works fine, the sizes are explained.

Case closed.

Whoa, wait a sec, Mac?

The latest Mac versions use the decimal system just like the manufacturer. (so now Windows and Linux will have to follow or what? Not for me since people get confused enough already).
On the Mac you see the exact size the Disk box mentions and no less. That exact same size will be converted down for Windows and Linux (1024 instead of 1000 but you'll see me mentioning this a few hundred times more).

There are no issues and all OSes are right...

Size is the same. It's just a way of representing things.
It's basically comes down to this:
The guys you like use 1000 and the ones you don't use 1024. There are less 1024 sized buckets needed to empty a swimming pool than 1000 sized buckets because this second ones are smaller. :thumb:

But is actually those who use 1000 that are wrong in the first place because computers always used 1024... They just simplified it because for humans is easier to use 1, 10, 100, 1000 and so on, instead of 2, 4, ... , 256, 512, 1024...

For the disk manufacturer AND Mac too:
120GB is 120GB

For Windows and Linux:
120GB (decimal) is actually seen as 119.12GB but the size is the same: you don't lose space and what I said in previous post still applies.

After reading the article, you should know by using the same disk on Mac and Windows that... it's the same disk with the same size. One OS measuring in cows per square feet and the other in chickens per second: looking at this then of course it seems the sizes are not equal (of course they are equal! For the same disk).

when i said "with my Mac and the Crucial M4 nothing like this happened" i was talking about the 22.94GB+500MB+300MB+1GB that is "stolen" in this case with the Samsung Ultra and the Samsung 840 Pro.

i intended to say that when i cloned my original Mac HDD to the Crucial M4 SSD there was just a litle disk space "stolen" from the total 128GB, nothing compared to 24GB!

i don't understand why is it needed a 22.94GB partition...

but as i said, i'm just a rookie!

Don't worry.
The 22GB one is a recovery partition that OEM's install. That one is not created by Windows but by Lenovo. I've had this too but removed it when I clean-installed again. In my case it was created by HP.
It is not-recommended to remove it at all especially if you don't know what is doing, you may want to put it on a USB or DVD's (with lenovo program) first if you decide to remove it later but if your rookie senses are right, just don't touch it: without it you won't be able to recover the system again if crashes and instabilities occur.
