If you want to back up all software, then much easier would be to add the user data as well, at least the data on the system drive. As a result, this will be a full system backup, quite useful to restore PC after the most of unexpected disasters. As for backup software, it's a matter of personal preference. I use Macrium Reflect to make an image on an external USB HDD once a 1-2 months (more exactly, I use two alternate HDDs to reduce a chance of image loss). To create a system image, free version is enough; paid version also allows to back up the user data only.
