How do I stop microphone playback my own sound

This happened completely randomly. My headset was working fine, I could not hear myself in it, then all of a sudden, I can now hear everything I do in it. For example, when I breathe into the mic very softly, I can hear that. I have gone into the recording options and unchecked "Listen to this device". Please can someone help

I assume the headset has no switch to turn off the microphone. If not, you can disable it in audio settings, recording devices.
