I have a CD for it and i want it to be my operating system instead of Windows 8. Is it possible to do this?
How do I install Windows Server 2008 R2 on Windows 8?

It's probably considered a downgrade since 8 came out after 2k8. 2008 is the companion of Vista and 2008r2 is the companion of Windows 7.
Are you wanting to install it in a VM or directly on the hardware ?? If you're doing a "hardware" install, you'll have to wipe it first.
