Help required, Windows 8 (File recovery) not working

I have tried everything in order to fix this problem but my windows 7 file recovery option on windows 8 opens up to a blank page so I can't backup my computer. Please help. There are no error messages

Just a blank page refering to the screenshot. File recovery blank screen.jpg Help would be much appreciated :)
