At the time I did the Snip, it was at 0%. You can see the little bumps in the image. The fan makes a different sound.

Anything about the disk check?

If all tests are OK, then don't worry about it.

Make sure you have a backup image of the OS and data backup of your personal files just in case (I do that even if my HDD is not making noises).

    That's basically it.
If the disk "trashing" (thrashing?) is audible then that might be csuse for concern, it might even be failing.Figure out who the drive's maker is (probably Seagate since the laptop is ASUS like mine), go to their website or Google, and look for a utility download for your specific drive.install it and check the drive's health and bad sector count.

So yeah, as it turns out, it was HW problem.
Probably a day or two after I started the thread, the notebook woke itself up from sleep mode while still being in my bag and overheated badly before shutting down. However, although I'm guessing the temperature control should prevent any HW from damage, the disk would no longer be found by the BIOS (upon starting the pc, it buzzed ten times and then stopped). So I brought it to the retailer and they gave me a different pc right away - no problem since then, quiet as it should be. Thanks anyway :)
