The adapter is what is in your laptop or desktop, to allow you to connect with the gateway. Depending on the Gateway. You could have one that only does Wireless-G, or is capable of Wireless-N.It's a home connection. It's an ATT router and I don't know what adapter is.
I believe so.
The cable is connected to the only place where it fits on the laptop and is connected to the router.
I did not ask if it connects to Wireless when you connect the Ethernet Cable. I asked if you can go to google.com or yahoo.com on a browser? Can you or can you not get to either of those websites, when you connect the computer with an Ethernet Cable to the Gateway?Seems pretty complicated.
I just plugged off the ethernet cable, and not only does it not connect to the local wireless, it doesn't show any wireless at all to connect to.
Should a different approach be used?
The gateways that ATT uses, a couple of them have a port that is exclusive for use with an iNID. You have 4 ports designated for the Switch part of the Gateway, 2 Telephone ports for in home telephone, and a RJ-11 port for DSL connection to the incoming connection from the NID.If you plug in with cable you are not using wireless, you are then using the LAN connection. Are you plugging the cable into the LAN port of your computer then into the Internet port of the router/Gateway? This is the best way to begin testing.
