Well, I would bet that many of "us" (about more than 90 percent) haven't used a Windows tablet, let alone a touchscreen in general.
Yes, Windows tablets are very, very sparse, most people have never seen them. I have had the experience to use a few in my office. Far more people are used to touchscreens (at least in SmartPhones and tablets that are actually popular today).
But I can say that it is better. And what you're saying about BSOD and viruses sound like a real bad mac commercial that apple would do.
I'm glad you like it better. I don't and neither do many that I work with. If it works for you, great. You make it sound as if it's "a fact that it is better and not up for debate". I always say that I don't personally like it, it doesn't fit me, and I know lots of people who feel the same way. Mine is simply opinion on the matter.
As far as viruses and bluescreens go, you are living with your head stuck in the sand if you don't think that people have the impression that Windows is plagued with these problems.
Well, if people think Windows BSOD all the time and viruses are everywhere, why are PCs still being sold, bought, and used? If someone is in the market for a new PC, a tablet PC might be just the fit for some. It eliminates a laptop and ipad in one nice package.
PC's are bought and sold because of 1). cost 2). applications they use currently 3). familiarity 4). dislike of Apple.
There are quite a number of people who have purchased MacBooks and such because they have grown tired of Windows, and they are willing to pay a huge price premium to make the switch. I know quite a number of people personally who have decided to make the switch over to Apple. And being completely honest, many who have made that move, haven't been talking about how they cannot wait to move back.
Finally i think a surface tablet is going to struggle to replace ipad sales, because the surface tablet doesn't have the status symbol factor that the iPad has. I think many who purchase the tablet will be viewed as the 2nd class citizen who wanted an iPad, but simply couldn't afford it (that's if the surface is priced at 1/2 to 1/3 of an iPad). < And I think that is sad, but an accurate portrayal of what people will think.
