Former Microsoft employee arrested for allegedly stealing

Alex Kibkalo, a former senior architect at Microsoft who most recently served as a Director of Product Management in 5nine Software (according to his LinkedIn profile), has been arrested for allegedly stealing Windows-related trade secrets while working for Microsoft.

Kibkalo was arrested on Wednesday, according to a report in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

According to a complaint filed on March 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, Kibkalo -- a Russian national and former Microsoft employee based in Lebanon -- passed on trade secrets involving Windows 8 to an unnamed technology blogger in France

When you are employed by a company and take their money every month there should be some loyalty. If you do not like the company you work for, leave. It is as simple as that, to steal from the company you work for is just beneath contempt.

There is a very old saying: Don't defecate where you eat!

I'm sure most companies if not all have something about instant dismissal if you steal company property.

He had already left. Above comment not relevant.

Privacy storm for MS now.

I was reading the other day about how the Electronic Frontier Foundation was tearing a new one about Microsoft going through someone's email without court order...

See, the thing is, that's right actually there in their ToS for Hotmail. This was a company employee, USING company services to commit a federal crime by stealing trade secrets and releasing them into the wild along with an activator. I'm sorry, but that to me sounds perfectly ok for them to do. An internal matter was handled internally following Microsoft's OWN Terms of Service agreement that EVERYONE doesn't read and agree to.

It's not just Microsoft, it's also Yahoo, google, apple, the whole lot of them. If they have reason to believe you're doing something illegal with their services, and in this case with Microsoft a company employee, they have the right to go into their own systems and end whatever illegal thing is being done.

When Microsoft singled out one man, stole part of his coding written for product activation, drags him through court crying "we didn't do it" until they see that there is a good possibility (after about 3 separate rulings) that they are going to get spanked and handed over $388 million to make it go away, it was an invitational precedent to be defecated on. Two OS's One Cup.

Microsoft invented piracy, they also invented bullying in the industry. The greatest thing BG ever brought to computing was the art of collecting other peoples stuff and presenting it with a new coat of paint, I swear he and SJ are the same person. Good on him for being one of the greatest entrepreneurs ever, screw him for being unoriginal.

All the coding and tech that MS (and Apple .. etc) accumulated to be able to eventually squash everyone in their way, and humiliate those that dare challenge them, came from the little guys that they prosecute.

Why do you not start your own anti Microsoft forum? And why oh why are you using MS products? Pathetic!

Who said Im anti Microsoft? I believe I am allowed my opinion without being belittled by a fellow forum member. Hit a nerve? Bad day?

I just find that the aspect of one company owning a majority of an industry, being a big part of what is wrong with this planet . Only thing worse is the tactics used to achieve such a position.

Actually, you are only guaranteed free speech on government owned property. If you're on private property, you're at the whims of whoever owns that property. This is why we can't legally yell, "Fire!" in a movie theater or call our managers what they really are without being fired. ;)
