All of my libraries are empty, and I have tried about 3 different ways to include a folder and every time I either get the error "The folder can't be included in library", or the include button is grayed out. Right-click on folder and then click include in______ Library, right-click library, and click add folder then choosing folder, and home>properties>add folder all give the error, can't be added, Then home>easy access the add button is grayed out, I have searched google several times and I always get the instructions to do it one of the above ways, which isn't working for me. Does anyone have any ideas. I did manage to get the download folder added to the download library, but that was the only one, the rest I go to properties>add folder, clicking the add button does nothing, visually you can see the button depress, but that's it nothing happens, then it's like doing that causes the pc to lag for about 15 seconds.

Hello RK,

Where are the folders that you are trying to include in libraries located?

@Berton, I agree that's all they are is shortcuts, but they are handy

@Majestic Jaguar, Yes, when I click on the library icon it says "(Documents/whatever) is empty, no folders have been added include a folder

@Brink, I have tried the folders located at "C:\\users\username\(folder), and those at "This PC\(folder), and Just click on the Explorer icon pinned to the taskbar, at the very top you have Desktop, and libraries, then under that is Desktop, > Homegroup > username >folder. Then drop down to "this pc", and the folder under that. I have tried every location that I have found a folder that goes in a library, and as I said in op, I have tried every way I can find instructions for.

Thanks to all 3 of you that have replied, I do appreciate your help.

The system restore didn't help any, I went ahead and did a restore using the restore point I made before I did anything else the day I got the pc, even though I noticed the problem within a couple of hours of turning it on the first time. I kept telling myself that I was just overlooking the way of doing it since I was used to 7 and not 8. I am including a couple of screensots showing what happens, and in the first pic you can see what folder I'm trying to add. I'm sure it's something simple, but it will probably still not make any sense to me after I find the answer.

Note that only indexable folders can be included - if you've disabled services or modified the install so that the indexing can no longer run at all, or cannot run on the particular volume you installed Windows onto, you will not be able to use any folders in a library.
