I would be more inclined to use IE10, if
1). It had ability to sync bookmarks, bookmark bar and history (without having to be on 8 and logging in via MS account)
2). be cross platform, on my android, on Linux, etc...and do #1.

any syncing on any platform requires you to be logged into something. what you're really saying is that you're fine with being logged into your Google account but not your Microsoft account.

Not quite. I don't have problems logging into an account...Google or Microsoft. But as far as I know, I.cannot log into Windows 7 with my Microsoft account and get my bookmarks. Cannot do it with Vista either. Cannot do it from within Linux, nor from my android devices. However with chrome and my Google account, I can do all of that. That is why I find IE unsuitable personally.

When Windows 8 came out I decided to try and use all Metro now called Modern Apps but found IE10 modern mode to be useless. Bookmark management and organization was very bad and no plugin support - LASTPass. IE11 has now upgraded the Bookmark management and you are now able to organize in folders - still no LASTPass. I definitely like IE11 and when and if they start allowing plugin's or get there password management working as good as LASTPass I will start to use it. I have used Firefox for years and loved it but let's face it they still do not have a working Modern version still in beta coming on to a year after Windows 8 has been out and no plugin support either. So, I have gone to Chrome. Chrome has a Modern version and supports plugins. I know LASTPass has a Windows 8 app but it has it's own built in browser that I do no care to use.

My Chrome with plugin's to make it what I want.

I use Opera for my main browser, sometimes IE10/11.

The new Opera 15/16 (dev 17) seem to be coming along, they are using the Chromium engine now, still catching up with the previous Presto versions features.

Opera. The old version (12.16).

Tabs sidebar on the left/right side is a god send on any wide screen.
Manage Site Preferences is also great : every site can be customized from CSS style, javascript, plugins, masking as another browser, etc.. all from within the site's page (right click).
The cache system is IMHO better than in any other browser. And I rely too much on bookmarks to switch to the new version of Opera (speed dial is nice, but not adapted when you have too many bookmarks with folders)

All this can be gotten from any major browser : Block cookies, Do Not Track, Clear Cache/Cookies on exit. You only have to browse the settings. I'd rather rely on a reputable browser if concerned about security.

Firefox for me. Ie 11 is fast and a step in the right direction but can't load half the sites I like. Also not very customizable. Maybe Microsoft will someday let it be open source than it can compete.

Hi
I have used FF for some years and every now and again tried Opera, Chrome and IE. Can't remember now exactly why I permanently ditched Opera some months ago, possibly some sync reason. I would've liked Chrome for the speed though hasn't been possible to get a proper bookmarks sidebar- again, ditched. Left IE as a backup browser.
So atm I'm using PaleMoon(Firefox) and happy with it. There aren't many choices for good browsers?

My Computer

I use firefox and Ie11 when I cannot open something in firefox
It might state that ie is used more because most users (not it users) have no clue what else to use. IE comes with the OS so that is what they use

You're not a fan of using MS account to sign into desktop PC or other devices?

I'm not a fan of signing in to my pc with my email password (I created a new acct with no activity). You never know when you will need to give access to someone because you aren't at your pc. You sure don't want them reading your email afterwards.
Maybe alias passwords to access computer will happen in the future.

And if you log into your email acct from a different computer; it would take both passwords before everything got synced up.
