Famous Atikmdag.sys BSOD. Bugcheck code: 0x50

I don't think that MB is the issue since that would manifest differently. I've had a number of MB failures in the past and I think that's not the case in your situation.

Hi JawnMusic ^_^,

I am sorry for the delay caused. Softwaremaniac must be busy and hence the delay. Let me help you out in the mean time ^_^. I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
Code:
2: kd> .trap 0xfffff88003d11fa0
NOTE: The trap frame does not contain all registers.
Some register values may be zeroed or incorrect.

In all the dump files which I analysed, this same operation is causing the BSOD. In this one, we are trying to move the value of the register RAX and RDX multiplied by 4. Unfortunately, the dump file did not save the contents of the Page Table Entry highlighted in orange.

But, this is the scenario with all of the dump files so I would think that this is most likely a software fault. Let's check the time stamp of the ATI Driver -
Code:
2: kd> lmvm atikmdag
start end module name

It is dated to 2014. I must tell you that for Laptops, it is strongly suggested to use the Video Drivers provided by the manufacturer only since they do special tweaking so that the Graphics Switching can work.

Now, before running any tools below as per the instructions, make sure that you are BOOTED in SAFE MODE with Networking. This is to make sure that you do not face any further problems.

  1. Kindly download the Display Driver Uninstaller from **LINK1**.
  2. Once you are booted into Safe Mode, run the DDU and then clean the driver. Reboot the system and once it has booted again, boot into the Safe Mode with Networking.
  3. Go to this **LINK** and download the Video BIOS Update. You can check the Fixed list of things and that includes BSOD issues as well :) . Once it has downloaded, follow the instructions which are given below on the same link and then flash the Video BIOS. Note that flashing BIOS is a very risky and a single mistake could ruin the system physically. Make sure that your system is plugged in.
  4. Now once the Video BIOS Update is done, make sure that you are still in Safe Mode in Networking and then download the driver from this **LINK**. Once it is downloaded, follow the instructions which are given below on the same link.
  5. Reboot your machine in normal mode.

Let me know how it goes ^_^. I have tried my best to be precise and clear, yet in case of any doubt in the instructions, kindly do not hesitate to ask before proceeding further ^_^.

I've done what you said to when I got to number 3 and I ran the BIOS and it told me "The VBIOS update is intended only for the following video card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. The update cannot be performed on this system."

What should I do?

I've tried what you said and it still gives me the BSOD. I've attached the new DUMP files, so you may read them if you want. Thank you for the help so far! Brings new hope into my mind! :)

Hi JawnMusic ^_^,

Unfortunately, the dump files you have provided me with are spitting out the exact same error which was in your previous dump files. Till the time we are troubleshooting, can you uninstall the ATI Driver using the Display Driver Un-installer and not installing any ATI Driver? This will help us in isolating the issue.

Also, kindly follow the below post and use 1st Option and then upload the ZIP File. I would need to take a look at the Event Logs at exactly what is happening.

http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Also, are you getting any BSOD's if you run the system in Safe Mode?

Let me know how it goes ^_^

I've been trying to fix this for 4 weeks now, and have just bought a desktop computer. But I still want to fix the alienware too, so I will eventually upload the files your asking but give me a couple of days. Just got the new computer :) Still, thank you so much for all the help so far. Have been to long without music production I had to buy a new one :)
And, no. I do not get BSOD when I am in safemode. I can also just de-activate the drivers in devixe manager and be good :)
