Error 0x80070037 when copy file from external HD

After 20 minutes of transfert files from my Toshiba canvio 1TB to Laptop HP pavilion (with WD blue 1TB)
the windows 8 hangs and the window says : Error 0x80070037
Instead with linux everything works fine, but when i return in windows 8 it does not recognize the files.
for repair corrupted files I have to use the error checking utility.
it is a problem of usb power supply ?
in any case this window 8 works really bad

Can you tell if the drive is spinning down? 20 minutes sounds like it could be going to sleep thinking it was inactive for some reason. This is just a guess though.

Edit: As a quick test you could try my DriveAlive freeware from my page linked below. It creates then deletes a file on the drive every 5 minutes to keep the drive from going to sleep. See the included Readme.txt for details.

Edit2: Updated to v.1.21. The program is the same other than updating to reflect the new home page.
