Don't know what all the fuss is about! Start page.

Start 8 from Stardock is the best $5 I ever spent.

Yes, very nice. I just bought a copy myself. I was OK with the desktop as-is but this makes it even better. Thanks for the heads-up.

@Coke Robot:

I've seen that sort of thing mentioned too. Maybe I can figure out how to get things back the way they were.

I'm very happy with classic shell,, all true I use it only to remove the hot corner, I'm so use now to the start page that I don't even thing about the start menu anymore.

Agreed! It's like some declared war over split milk. The Start Screen is more or less like a new Desktop that can be loaded with dozens of tiles, much like the Desktop was once used to load dozens of icons.
Maybe I haven't spent enough time with the various tiles. Some of them are OK, but, in general, using them seems to be burdensome (or they are trivial). My prime example is trying to use IE under the Metro style. Please enlighten me on how to use IE effective under this style constraint.
There are 2 IE versions in Windows 8, a desktop version and a Metro UI version. With desktop version, when you close the IE, you have to click on the X icon or use the menu File->Exit. With the metro UI version, you close it by 1) Move the mouse to the top left corner, right click->close or 2) Move the mouse to the top until you see a hand icon, hold the left mouse button and drag it down to the bottom of the screen to close or 3) if you have a touch screen, just swipe it down to close. If you prefer to use the desktop version, just go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer" and pin iexplore.exe to the Start Menu and if you install another browser and set it as your default browser, Windows 8 will put the IE version in your Start Srceen also.

I upgraded from XP to Windows 8, and didn't want Vista or 7 because of the 'improvements' to the Start menu which I found unwieldy.So I like the Start screen as opposed to an even clunkier iteration of the Start menu!
