I may need to make some as I'm getting SO drained out from working on this ASUS laptop with Windows 8 Core installed. Oh la la!! Back in my day, it took either F2, F12, Del, or Esc keys to enter in the BIOS, a Boot tab to change boot the device to an external drive or device, and install Windows! These days, it's takes Binging, enabling CRM, disabling Secure Boot Control, THEN keeping the external drive plugged in, holding the Esc key BEFORE you turn on the PC, hit the power button and then get the Windows installer going! Oh my gosh, this laptop!

Either I REALLY need to educate myself about UEFI and UEFI BIOS and UEFI BIOS Shells, or I might just start a business where people can build their own laptop PCs. They can choose the chassis type, motherboard and CPU combos, RAM, dedicated graphics cards, USB port amounts, displays being touch and/or touch HD displays and so on with no idiotic BIOS systems but ones that are simple mouse or touch enabled UEFI BIOS's that allow for easy booting to a USB drive to install crapware free Windows!

This is my 1st PC with the UEFI BIOS and I really like it but I can see where it would becone unduly complex and troublesome. My voltage regulators and RAM went to 200 degrees F last night, so I backed down my overclock and voltage to defaults. I need to reevaluate my airflow in the case. Most likely, I'll replace the plexi side panel with a mesh panel and 4 x 120mm fans to bring in more air to the motherboard and it's components. The liquid cooler frees up space in the case, but I don't have enough airflow going on, just a 200mm intake fan in the front and a top mounted 200mm fan to blow warm air out.

If I can make a suggestion ==> Mount the Intel Watercooler fan to the top of your case, so it blows the air out of the top. And place another normal fan on the back of the casing to blow the air out.

That way the backfan can speedup RPM's when the case temp rises, instead of waiting until your CPU temp rises before the backfan's RPM will go up.

A straight airflow (front in, back out) should do the trick better dan a curved airflow (front in, top out).

Rover, Thanks! That's one of the things I'll try. I now have a 200mm fan at the top of the case, blowing out. I may move the radiator/fan assembly to the top and put a high volume 140mm fan at the rear. I will also order the mesh side panel for my case so I can place additional intake fans on it if I need to...

Thanks again! The CPU and PCH temps are fine, it's just the RAM and VR that are too hot now...

May I suggest to drill holes around the perimeter of the pexiglass side panel? No need to purchase another panel.

Tony, good idea but I don't want to drill any holes. I already ordered the extra side panel and mesh panel. i like this case too much to start drilling holes in it. I'm also going to get a temp probe to confirm the VR and RAM temps as the tool may be giving me wrong temps... I didn't have the time to do this last night...

I'm thinking that the alarm last night was bogus because I didn't see any temp spikes in any of my logs, just on the Intel monitoring program.

Isn't this the best part of overclocking? Constant tinkering, changing, tweaking, modifying and reading to eek out the most performance possible. At the end of the day though, I've often found all of the changes don't really amount to anything more than higher benchmarks. But we are enthusiasts, so I know we do this out of principal.

Yes, I agree 100%, but it's fun, in a sick and twisted kind of way...

I'll be adding a few parts tonight, opening the case and rerouting a few cables and pre-placing some cables sets for additional hard drives that may get added in the future. Behind the drive bays, I pull a SATA power and data cable set and tie wrap them in place so that when I add other drives, I just grab the closest cables I need without messing with the cable mgmt. The eSATA port on the top of the case isn't working properly and I'm guessing that I pulled too hard on the cable and pulled it loose from it's connection on the top of the case, so I'll fix that "while I'm in there"... I'll take more pics, showing exactly what I'm talking about...

Yes, indeed! The case is so easy to work in that I actually look forward to it! My old case was a nightmare for me because I'm constantly opening it up and changing things, but my friend loves it. The blue lights make his den look cool (his words) and he will never open up the case again, so it was a "win-win".

Your friend figures if the case needs to be opened he can call you. Its probably better that was, eh?

Yes, I don't want him opening the case... I put a Scotch pad behind the front bezel, just in front of the intake fan, so that he can easily remove, clean and replace it as he has cats and dogs. His old PC was completely gunked up and it was beyond repair and was 10 years old, so he was ready for a new PC and he's very happy.
