Jim, Just go download the beta of Bull Guard, it is in current beta testing now. Working quite well too.
NEVER wait for a security product, THEY should have them READY before WE need them!

I have NIS 2012 that I can use on my dual boot but just using my Windows 8 RP to test NIS 2013 Beta. In a few weeks when I get Windows 8 RTM from TechNet I will probably install NIS 2012. I have two extra copies that I got for free through rebates so I am set for 2.5 more years.

Jim

Why do people keep saying MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is good and we should stick with it ? 99% of the viruses we get comes from being online. With that said MSE is completely garbage. It only "protects" after you are infected. Lets face it people now days half of the viruses/trojans/malware come from simply browsing webpages you do not have to download something to become infected. With that said why do you say MSE is good ? It does not scan the webpages (you get no warning to stop and go back) you go to therefore if you browse a rogue page you are got. This I know for a fact MSE does not check webpages. Do yourself a favor people and disable Windows Defender and seek a 3rd party protection. I highly recommend Panda Cloud Antivirus and Trend Micro Titanium. Those two are fantastic and a couple more to try is BullGuard Internet Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Those two are not as good as the first two I mentioned but work really well.

I just confirmed this. Just installed it on my desktop it is legit click this link and you will get 6 free months of Panda Cloud Pro. All you got to do is simply "Like" their facebook page and click download.
Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro Edition 6 Months Serial Number Free Download
The link above is for the 6 month free Panda Cloud Pro.
It is one of the few 3rd Party Antivirus programs that is compatible with Windows 8.
The link below is a list from Microsoft that shows all Antivirus Programs and if they are Windows 8 compatible.
Windows 8 Compatibility for Security: Antivirus: Drivers, Updates, Downloads

as I said I tested this no adds not a scam all you got to do is like their facebook page and you get 6 months of Panda Cloud Pro free a $20 value.
i would hope this is not against the rules seeing it is 100% legit and all members can benefit from this.

Disable Windows Defender and install MSE, it is heaps good and it is free (on Windows 7). Keep Windows Defender on Windows 8 because it is just like MSE on Windows 7.

Why bitmodule? Get the real deal! I have Norton 360v6 running nicely, on another I have Bull Guard Security Suite running, and YET on another one I have Avira security 2013 running. Best of all cost nothing for any of them. Ahhh!! The JOYS of being a Beta Tester.

My laptop is my only computer. It is about 2 years old.

DON'T go blaming me eXcite if the firewall lets the bad guys in!!! Microsoft makes it VERY clear in their EUL
that they wouldn't take any liability if something happens to your PC while running Windows, or their associated applications.
That whole Use it at your own RISK statement covers them.

Norton is one of the worse, it slows down your PC. I not everyone can be a beta tester.

I doesn't, Mike?

Been years not being in touch with Norton product. I rely on MSE, not because of it's superiority, but I just leave it in place and self-updating timely. Personally, I believe all AV in the market have their own hole. I just thought the way I handle my PC's is the main key why I almost never have virus problem for the last 3 years. :p

Believe it or not.

I have had Norton products before and they use to make my PC really slow with nothing else running at the time.

In the past with Norton I would agree with that. BUT Norton pulled a total 360, and is a speedy lil demon.

If you really want to know. Go to AV Comparatives. MSE is not too shabby an AV to be running.
