Hi all,
I think someone called this the "black screen of death," I don't know what it's called. But I enabled this password screen in Win 8.1 safe mode now I want to get rid of it but I can't get past that screen (by pressing f8 again) to get back to the safe mode commands. I have the password and still have access to my computer but it's a pain having to put in two passwords. How can I get rid of this thing? I'm not a techie so if I left any info out that you may need please inform me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sammi

What did you do to enable it? You should be able to repeat the process to disable it.

Yeah, that's what I thought but I didn't know the key to get back into safe mode because the f8 wasn't getting it done. Someone from another forum told me to "disable the password in BIOS" so I looked up what BIOS was lol and found a couple of Youtube vids.

I didn't follow one or the other exactly (by accident) but here's what worked: when the screen came up I pressed alt+r, when the screen changed I shut the computer down by pressing the power button. When I turned it back on, the safe mode screen came up and I went back to the password commands. I put in the current password and when it asked for a new one I left it blank both times and hit enter and that disabled it. boom lol
