Deep inside Windows Blue: 10 coolest features

After an abundance of rumors, whispers, and slip-ups in job postings, we now have more concrete evidence of Microsoft's secretive Windows Blue operating system: An honest-to-goodness leak of an early build of the OS.

The leak of "Windows Build 9364" appeared on torrent and file sharing sites Sunday morning in the form of a 2.6GB ISO file, and news of the leak blazed across the Net like wildfire after an initial appearance on Windows 9 Beta. Although Microsoft hasn't issued a formal statement about the leak, it's been dissected hands-on by WinSuperSite and numerous forum-goers, and Build 9364 appears to a 100 percent legitimate (and 100 percent unauthorized) look at the future of Windows.

Well with a little patience you will have the same features on the modern-style UI as on Windows 3.1. You must be glad indeed.

:D lol

About w8, am seeing a similarity with Kellogg's one day starting making anchovy flavored Corn Flakes, and trying hard to force everyone into liking it. Now, that said, with some third party taste-removing + taste-restoring additions it may be decently palatable, but...

Maybe I missed something, but I saw nothing new for the PC user. It is all about touch. How many tablets do they plan to sell.

I think you did... It's called the "new" PC, the tablet PC, the touch PC, basically the PC that doesn't need an antiquated rodent to work with it. You know, that gimmicky thing from 25 some years ago?
My systems are not antiquated. They are top notch desktops and laptops from a year ago. When I want touch, I use my Android tablet. That does everything I want on a tablet.

I'm not talking about your PC's hardware, I'm talking about the input method to interact with the GUI is antiquated.

I with you. I'm looking for a good deal on a touch monitor for my new build, but I surely wont retire my mouse and keyboard. As I said before I cant see any better combination than a confortable chair and a wireless keyboard.

The above-displayed photos are pictures of DaimlerChrysler’s F 200 concept study, produced by the Mercedes-Benz design team and unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1996 to show off “groundbreaking systems for improving safety and comfort in passenger cars” and demonstrate “just how technical innovations could open up new avenues for the styling of future top-of-the-range cars.” The full DaimlerChrysler press release described the vehicle thusly.

There are actually alternatives for the steering wheel - custom made for people with handicaps, like touchscreens for PCs.

Mean while back on topic. . .As to anything new and interesting in Win Blue I just don't see it. Other then customizing the Start Screen (yes I know you can change a great deal more settings. . .no big deal); just don't see any reason to upgrade (will see what changes Microsoft makes in the next step).

I'm guessing this is supreme sarcasm with little content to be read?
Yes and No
True it's sarcasm -and I like it-. But it's also true that practicaly that's what happens.
The more Metro evoluates in the good direction, the more it looks like the traditional Windows 95 desktop, but with the flat style, it's safe albeit sarcastic to compare it to W3.1.
I'm not saying that to try to ridicule your Metro style lovers. But when you open the Modern UI on a PC and think about what could be done to improve it, all what's missing are classic desktop functionalities. And like it or not, the Darwinian selection law will make it like a classic desktop, perhaps even with the return of a Start Menu equivalent (almost there already).

How am I supposed to drive with the left hand while I regulate heat, radio or the gps with the right one? This is the same stupidity as touch screen or whatever is invented to look new.
If the steering wheel is round shaped and in front of yourself (not on the side) on all of the billions of vehicles on the roads globaly it's because it's the best way to drive safely and acurately. If all of the billions of computers in the world have a keyboard and a mouse and also resizeable windows and a taskbar, it also because it's the best way.

@Fred,

I think it was tried with fighter jets - something about reversing the joystick. After a number of fatalities ( even thought the pilots had been trained on them ) - it all reverted to the best method.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, you don't need a mouse with a touchscreen. If you do, you honestly are doing it wrong or doing something wrong. Never had to use a mouse, never felt like I needed one, and won't ever. Why? I don't know, maybe I'm doing something right.

That is not what Fred said. He meant touch is there to try and do what a mouse does. There are limitations to touch - but it is the best thing we have right now for those kind of devices in a portable situation.
