Hey, don't be sorry. Just troubleshooting on a forum is like pulling teeth sometimes and gets frustrating. Install all the latest drivers then get back to us.

Well, I refreshed it and that seemed to fix it. But, now I've got to set up everything again. It's installing the 8.1 update now. I hope this never happens again. Microsoft was no help.

So, I guess I need to update the drivers tomorrow. I've always been afraid too. Afraid it might mess something up. I've heard updating the BIOS is a big thing to be cautious about.

Don't worry about the BIOS.
I say that because Gateway people told me the same thing.
If you do it wrong you can really mess up your computer.

Try Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

The paid Standard Version has a boot menu option.
Very nice to have when using your Macrium image to recover your OS.

NOTE--- If you decide to use Macrium, format your usb drive as NTFS & not Fat or Fat32 so you get 1 big image file & not a bunch of 4GB files.

A picture of 1 big file---

Maximum compression---

As for drivers, I use the Pro version of DriverMax

The free version allows 2 driver downloads/day.
The paid version allows unlimited driver downloads/day.

And you might want to run the dism & sfc commands once in a while.
Here is a batch file that automatically runs them.
Download it & right click it & choose Properties & Unblock it & then right click it & choose Run as administrator.
It takes about 2 hours to finish.

View attachment dism.bat

It should look similar to this when complete---

Just trying to be helpful. :)

Well, this has happened before. I had to do a system refresh and it resolved the issue. Never again will I do a system refresh.
