rt click>properties>used space. I.E how much is on there? It should be several gb in size. If not, then you don't have the files needed.

The factory recovery partition is about 600mb with only 235mb worth of files that are used to reset the factory condition of the computer. I assume it uses boot and install.wim to make this happen. My issue is that I only have Windows 8.1 developer boot and install.wim and not Windows 8 64bit that came pre-installed. I guess my search will now center on finding a copy of Windows 8 64bit boot.wim and install.wim and see what can be done to get factory install back on my machine. Not sure what else to do as the only other copy of Windows 8 is 32bit developer version

Probably best to copy the entire contents of the correct install dvd sources folder into the sources folder on the recov partition/usb.

You need to get hold of win 8 dvd. Did you have pro, or regular. Both images are usually on the dvd.

So, a Windows 8 DVD and doing a factory reset with the files from the recovery partition should do it-now to find the dvd

Fifty bucks- what a rip off.
I think it's quite steep considering they should have come with the unit to begin with. This is the best way to alienate your customer and force them to another computer manufacturer which is exactly what happened with me in this experience.
