Can't shut down because of Windows task host

I have Windows 8.1 and just started having a problem where when I shut down it says Windows task host needs to close 1 program. If I leave it goes back to windows after a minute. The only way to shut down is to click close anyway. Is there a way to fix this?

Open Task Manager, under Processes, find running programme, click on it, then click on End Task at bottom.

Event log could probably tell which process is halting shut down

I tried the fix in the thread "shutdown.reg" and that seems to have fixed it but i only tried it once.

Solved the problem for me. I do not need sync to always be running. It does raise the question of why sync is causing this problem. Hope this helps.

I tried the Reimage Repair tool, and big SURPRISE it found errors, but wanted me to pay for a license to clean them!!

For the fastest shutdown you'll ever get, make this desktop shortcut and always use it to shut down your PC.
I've put the shortcut icon in my taskbar, for a very quick One-Click shutdown.

%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 1

for a REBOOT shortcut, change the /s to a /r

I've used a similar shutdown shortcut on all my PC's ever since Windows 98 and it works great.
My Main PC running Windows 8.1/Pro, will usually shut down in just five seconds, regardless of what programs I've left running.
