Hi All.

I'm running Win 8.1 with IE 11 and for some reason, my homepage started to show up a about:blank. I go to Internet Options to fix this (MSN.com) and hit Apply. It looks like the change is made, but when I close the Options window and reopen it, the about:blank page shows up again in the homepage URL field. The same problem occurs if I simply close and reopen the browser. Rebooting didn't help and I got an error message that System Restore couldn't do a restore for my last restore point for some reason.

How do get the browser to save my homepage URL? Can I re-install IE 11 if there is no other option?

thanks in advance,

Frank

Hey ftlum,

Try an IE reset: How to reset Internet Explorer settings

Also, ensure that all add-ons are DISABLED (except for adobe/flash). Exit, and reopen. If it works, great. Slowly begin to enable the add-ons you'd like to keep unless a problem occurs again (indicating a fault of an add-on). If it doesn't work, please say so. :)

Sometimes, installed programs (often junkware) can interfere by automatically forcing the install of an add-on, so removing such a program will prevent the add-on from installing. These junkware programs often have words like 'search', 'toolbar', 'optimize', or 'coupon' in their titles.
