Thanks but why windows 8 32 bit oem?
Could I install ubuntu-12.10 and when I get recovery disks I can go back to windows 8 oem. I guess if I install ubuntu-12.10 the windows 8 repair will not work at all.
Thanks Andrew

Ok so I should to with repair disk from another windows 8 64bit uefi computer first. If that fails I can put ubuntu-12.10 on and when I get toshiba recovery disks I can go back to windows 8 oem? Is it allowed for you or someone else to give me a download link for a windows 8 repair disk which I can then burn to cd on my windows 7 32 bit laptop and try repair windows 8? Thanks Andrew

repair disc, yes. ubuntu, yes. On the other matter, as said, I am not sure. theog would know for sure in all likelihood.

I think that finding someone, say, at a university (as mentioned) to share one with you or getting one posted to you, as theog mentioned, is your best bet--really your only bet.

Note that theog posted one, or more, links referencing Toshiba recovery. I suspect that your answer is in the link(s). I haven't checked the link(s) out. Note that if the answer is positive, then that outcome might be viewed as being consistent theog posting this option for you:

Did you change the boot order/boot device setting in the BIOS so the laptop is set to boot from the DVD drive instead of the hard drive?

Hi, Thanks for replies. Just a few more things I want to clear. I never get uefi as soon in link http://www.eightforums.com/attachme...ws-8-windows-7-windows-8-downgrade-006-sb.png when trying to boot into windows 8 dvd in secure mode on or off speed fast or normal and with bios set as csm or uefi. Wether I use a dvd or bootable usb flash made via diskpart. I'm now trying to downgrade to windows 7. Why doesn't it show uefi bootable when I hit f12 to boot order? Thanks Andrew

Sounds to me like your ISO's/install media do not have UEFI support. See my post #10. Don't know why not on the f12 thing. Are you going back to Win7 permanently? In not, then why bother to try to install under UEFI? You are having too much trouble with UEFI? It may not be worth your while to install Win7 under UEFI even if going back permanently.

You will need to reset the UEFI/BIOS firmware back, for the Disc's to work.

To boot a Windows 8x64 DVD in UEFI mode.

Thanks. Right I have installed ubuntu 12.10 and laptop is running perfect. So that proves the bios is stopping me installing any windows system. I have now setup vmplayer and have setup windows 8 pro on there. Will i be able to get my oem key from bios that way and could i make a recorvery disks through vmplayer running windows 8? Thanks Andrew

Hi Thanks for all the replies. I have an update:- I have managed to install windows 8 by doing 1 thing in the bios and I have tried it 4 times now.
Secure boot:- enabled. Boot speed:- Fast. UEFI enabled. With this you CAN NOT install windows 8 on this Toshiba laptop.
I had to disable internal pointing device to get the laptop to boot windows 8 disc and install it. The 1 problem is I don't have a working touchpad only usb mouse and if I try enable it the laptop WILL NOT boot. Confused. Any ideas. I'm using the laptop now. Thanks Andrew
PS Is there a way that I can install touchpad drivers on install disc before it tries to boot up?

That is a hardware problem, not a software driver problem, as windows will boot with/outwith touchpad drivers.
