Can't install .NET Framework 3.5

I can't install .NET Framework 3.5 no matter what I do. I tried downloading it and in the midway get the error 0x800f0906. I tried installing through DISM but that didn't work either. It always stops at 65.8 %.

Can somebody tell me how to fix it? It's really driving me nuts.

It's in "add or remove windows features" - You have to be careful you don't have any "Legacy" dot net, it would be left over from an upgrade. I still haven't figured out how to get rid of it.

What are you even talking about, a lot of applications and games require framework 3.5

1. Open "My Computer" on the desktop.
2. Insert Windows 8 installation media, and right click windows 8 client ISO.
3. Click "Start" button, and type "cmd" in the search box.
4. Run the following command and press enter:
"Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<drive>:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess"
5. Eject windows 8 client ISO, and install windows live component.
6. Click "Start" button, and click "All Programs", and click "Windows Update".
7. Restart the computer and install Microsoft. NET framework 3-5 again.

services.msc

find "Windows update"

right click -> Start

then goto control panel

choose Programs and Features, choose Turn Windows features on or off, and then select the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) check box.

then wait until it installs

note: you need internet conection.

I did that but...it asks for the .net 3.5 installation requirement again to install the downloaded file. So its just super boring.

it installs now the RTM as been released to TechNet and MSDN
