Just download Acronis ATI 2014 TRY version,& made the Recovery disk, which has NO support Windows 8/8.1, uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot,& not signed by Microsoft.
Therefore will not boot.

It says on line that it supports Windows 8. Where can I find this information you just gave me? Thanks so much for your interest in this case. According to Dell the disks I made are for reinstalling Windows 8. I just went into Dell, under my Service Tag, to check for updates and there is a link there to download the reinstall disk also.

Ok. BTW I just remembered, when I first installed Acronis about 2 months ago, I made a boot disk and tested it. It worked at that time. Thanks for your time and effort.

The BIOS update completed successfully, but it didn't correct the problem. Thanks for trying.

Don't you get your system logo on startup?
if not the best way would be to restore your bios!
try going to your manufacturer's website and get a few bios updates older or newer anything and install them. this may work ;)

best of luck,
Vardhan

Go here.. Dell PC Diagnostics | Dell US

Select Complete > click Run Diagnostics

You might have a faulty keyboard. This issue is very strange, I see no reason why you can not access the BIOS. Unless your keyboard needs to be changed. Hopefully Dell Diagnostics will provide more information. If this issue can not be resolved you should seek advice from Dell on how to replace non working components.

After I updated the BIOS I did a COMPLETE diagnosis and everything passed. I changed out the keyboard as well. Thanks for your suggestions.

Just to let you know---

It turned out to be a bad mother board. Dell replaced it and all is well. Thanks again everyone for your input.
