Cant see this mentioned here on Windows 8 Pro RTM version ?
Alternative Themes /wallpaper accessible but cannot be changed due to screen lock .

Seems to be no update to adjust this .

Did not happen on pre release versions of Windows 8.
Any ideas, please ?

Hello Tweakfiend,

Could you post a screenshot showing this to see if it may reveal what the issue could be?

I'm not certain what you mean by "due to screen lock".

Hi
Difficult to produce a screen print...........
With ref to the "Harmony" desktop background, on selecting a change of wallpaper or desktop theme, Windows will show the changed selection for 0.5 seconds then reset to "Harmony"
Had no issue with previous earlier versions of 8 and used many different wallpapers /themes.
Have reinstalled Windows 8 Pro 4 times in caser its my fault... no change

I did a clean install with the Windows 8 Upgrade too. I had the same experience with the themes not working. When I checked in the Computer Properties Windows 8 was not activated. When I attempted to activate it told me the Key was invalid.

Soooooooooooo...

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and then ran the upgrade. Windows 8 was activated automatically and everything worked fine then.

Windows 8 pro upgrade purchased from Microsoftas a download .. saved as an ISO and used that to install to Oracle Virtual Box
Shows reg key as invalid on activation attempt. presume as installed inside Windows 7 not as 7 upgade.

This invalid key, although the reg key recognised & approved during installation , disallows Windows media center registration and other updates so maybe causes this corruption ??

another case of not respecting the EULA. ...this is for replace your Windows 7, not for use as an extra OS in VM.

Tweakfiend,

You're going to either need to upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 8 replacing Windows 7 as in the EULA that you agreed to, or buy a retail system builder (full) copy of Windows 8 to use in the VM.

http://www.eightforums.com/general-discussion/10837-windows-8-eula.html

What about upgrading the software?

The software covered by this agreement is an upgrade to your existing operating system software, so the upgrade replaces the original software that you are upgrading. You do not retain any rights to the original software after you have upgraded and you may not continue to use it or transfer it in any way. This agreement governs your rights to use the upgrade software and replaces the agreement for the software from which you upgraded. After you complete your upgrade, additional software will be required to playback or record certain types of media, including DVDs.
