Cannot boot onto other hard drive, Windows 7

Hello all,
I have been running windows 7 off of my solid state drive and now it seems to be going out. I have windows 7 installed on a standard spin disk drive as well, and would like to boot to that instead but am unable to. I have selected to boot from that hard drive in the bios, but it goes straight to trying to boot off of my broken solid state drive (even if the ssd is unplugged). Also, I cannot choose the secondary (backup) version of windows 7 on my spin disk drive; the screen that allows you to pick your OS flashes by way too quickly and automatically chooses the first installation. I just need to force boot to my other hard drive. All I need to do is slow down the boot select screen somehow.

Any help is much appreciated thanks!

If you can get into the BIOS you can set the time that it shows the OEM screen, I set that to 5 seconds. If you can get into the BIOS you should put a delay on it, then you may be able to choose the MB Boot Menu and choose the correct drive.

Hi thanks for posting. I could not find any such option in the bios, but perhaps I missed it?

Well I can change the hard drive boot order just fine. But the problem is that my computer doesnt recognize that (or doesnt care) and tries every time to boot off of that solid state drive, even if its not plugged in.

The actual Boot Loader for the Windows 7 on that drive may in fact be ON the SSD drive. I have Windows 7 installed on an IDE drive and Windows 8 installed on a Sata drive on one of my systems, and the bootloaders for both OSes are on the IDE drive.

Take the Sata drive out and put your Windows 7 install disk in, boot from it, and try to run Startup repair. If it doesn't work, then get into Command Prompt on the install disk and run Bootrec /fixmbr and /scanos on the mechanical drive.

when I run the scanos command, it says that I have no installations of windows 7. Also the fixmbr command doesnt work as I have tried it already. Thank you

Yep, thats cos the bootloader is on that failing SSD drive. I'm trying to think of what else you can do -

Ok try this, download Hiren's Boot CD from the link in my sig pic. Burn it and Boot to it. Actually do a google for Hiren's Boot CD version 13, and download that if you can.

If you can find Hiren's 13, boot to it, and you will see two entries, "Windows XP Bootloader" and "Windows Vista/7 Bootloader" - Make sure that ONLY the mechanical drive is plugged in, in the first available SATA or IDE slot. Choose "Windows Vista/7 Loader"

And see if it boots, if it does, there are things we can do to bring it all the way back, but if not, you will have to re-install Windows 7.

Hiren's Boot CD version 15,m no longer has the bootloaders, so you can't use it. But you should be able to find version 13, just look, took me about 10 pages last time. It will be an ISO image, don't download it in any other format.
