can I add a different driver to my dvd/cd rom drives

Not the same thing. Many DVDs have a region code, the code has to match what the drive is set to. Like region 1, United States. If the DVD has no code then it doesn't matter.

if DVD has no region code set & dvd drive has not been set to a specific region (as in my case), the DVD still plays, right?

But if DVD has a region code set & DVD drive is not yet set to specific region matching, would the DVD NOT play?

is it required to set Drive region mandatory to a region, unless the dvd is not seen playing?

just got my system back from asus, again they didn't even check my cd drive. they said my computer don't play blue rays so I need help installing a driver matshita dvd ram UJ8A0AS, in my computer. i have to go to store and try to get paperwork for my system to show that it did play blue rays. then maybe I can get them to check the cd drive. their response was that my cd drive was not an asus product. then it changed to it doesn't play blue rays.
