BSOD system thread exception not handled

My computer crashed yesterday after I plugged in a USB drive. The BSOD error code was SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and I get the same error everytime my computer turns on. I can boot into the recovery options but nothing works (safe mode, system restore, startup repair all broken). I have another HDD in the computer which I can boot from and access the old broken windows drive. I really don't want to have to wipe the drive.

Have looked at the dumps, but they seem to be from months ago. How do I get the dumps from this crash?

The error I get when trying to do a system restore is:

"System restore failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. An unspecified error occurred during system restore. (0x80070003)"

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Do your still need help with this problem?
