I am getting random BSOD. The error on the screen is kernel_security_check_failure. It has happened 6 times over the past 10 days. 3 of those instances I was on and using the computer. The other 3 instances happened when I left the computer running over night.
I have 1 (and only 1) AV: Kaspersky. Other than virus definition updates, I don't think the program itself has been updated recently.
I have 3 backup services (I've been burned in the past where I was doing active backups, but the backup was corrupted):
GoodSync was updated on the 11th. The first crash was on the 17th - and since it doesn't crash every day this might be my culprit.
I also checked Windows Updates and none of the updates before the 17th were network related.
I am getting the following Event Viewer entries:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000139 (0x0000000000000003, 0xffffd000215d9310, 0xffffd000215d9268, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\022715-13203-01.dmp. Report Id: 022715-13203-01.
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
I did use WinDbg to open and read the mini dump file, however this is far as my expertise gets me. The mini dump tells me:
Probably caused by : NETIO.SYS ( NETIO!NsiGetParameterEx+222 )
When I run the !analyze -v it tells me that the process it is crashing in is svchost.exe.
Based on web searching NETIO.SYS, most of the recommendations I have seen have been to try and reinstall the network card driver. I have already done this (went to the laptop manufacturers website and downloaded the latest version available).
I also contacted the laptop manufacturer and explained the problem via support chat. However, their recommendation was useless:
First she tried to get me to go into Task Manager and kill processes running under svchost. I tried explaining to her that was a bad idea for two reasons: A) core window services run under that and B) that wouldn't tell me what service was causing the BSOD - as the BSOD has only happened 6 times over the course of 10 days.
She kept linking me to: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...bosd-uninstalling-apps-windows-installer.html
And asking me to try the online fix on that page. I tried explaining to her, that A) I don't get the BSOD when trying to uninstall anything and also B) I am not running 3 different antivirus software programs.
Next she insisted (and this is where I dropped out of chat with her) that I run my computer in safe mode for the next week to see if the crash would go away. I tried explaining that this wasn't feasible, and it also would not tell me what service specifically is causing the failure. She wouldn't listen and kept stating I need to run my computer in safe mode from now on to see if that fixed my issue.
Anyway, the one good thing from her was that she linked your forums, and it seems to have knowledgeable and helpful people here. So I implore you knowledgeable and helpful people: please help me! I have hit my diagnostic limit.
If lets me, I will now attach the latest DMP file.
Any suggestions as to which service is causing the problem or how to narrow down which service is the root cause (barring running in safe mode for a week) would be greatly appreciated.

GoodSync Version News- Windows
I am running on version 9.9.15
I am going to update to 9.9.16, but I don't see anything in the notes that would indicate they are reason for the crash.
However, since they are the only program that I have updated recently that runs in the background and uses the network (as far as I am aware of anyway), my money is on them being the problem.
PSS. I tried attaching the dmp file and it told me it was invalid. I changed the extension to .txt to upload it (that seemed to work) - so if you download it, just drop the .txt extension to turn it back into a .dmp file.

I have 3 backup services (I've been burned in the past where I was doing active backups, but the backup was corrupted):
- Crashplan - I have not updated this recently (can't remember the last time I updated it), and it has been running over a year now. It does 2 backups: 1 to my cloud, and 1 to a locally attached USB drive.
- Cox Cloud Drive - my ISP provides 10 TB of free backup - so hey why not use it. It was updated in November of last year.
- GoodSync - I use this directly copy all my work files to my backup laptop. It's running a copy of all my work software data, and it is my previous laptop (any time I upgrade to a new laptop, my previous one becomes my backup laptop) and GoodSync makes sure all my files on my primary is on my secondary so if there is castrophic hardware failure, I can just use my backup laptop while I wait for the primary to be repaired.
