Go to Huawei's website to see if there is an update to your modem and install it if there is.
You can also go to Realtek's website to update this network driver:
Rt630x64 Rt630x64.sys Wed Oct 19 08:12:55 2011 (4E9EBEC7)
To help avoid future issues, update ATK package from ASUS website, asap:
ASMMAP64 ASMMAP64.sys Thu Jul 02 05:13:26 2009 (4A4C7A36)
No, don't delete anything.
If there is no update, then the only thing to make the modem still work on Windows 8 is to copy/paste the .sys from a newer model of theirs with a newer driver over the one on your system, then reboot and hope for the best. (You can backup the original first, if you care to.)
If you still can't get it to work like that without bsod, you'd have to find a different modem to use with Windows 8 and/or complain to Huawei for an updated driver.
But to really answer your question, if you remove the hardware from the machine permanently, the bsods will stop, by doing that.
