Boot problem - with windows documents files on second HDD

Hi,

I have windows 8.1 with two drives. First SSD - where the system is, and second HDD where I moved the windows library and the page file.
My second drive failed and after I replaced it with small 2,5 HDD with cloned macrium restored files from old backup, the windows does not boot properly. It boot, but the screen stay black after boot logo. I can see mouse and see it moving but thats all.

Any help how to recover from this?

Welcome to the forum. Does it boot if you remove the second drive?

Did you change boot setting from BIOS? You might need to rearrange "boot from ..." order.

I tried without the second drive, but same issue.

Yes I check the BIOS, all look good.

Afterward, I restored my old backups used with Macrium and all is working. Just of cause now I am running old system. Just could copy some files back. Its pitty that such a small think can ruin windows so easy.

My question is how could be this prevented for future time? Not using second drive I guess :-(
