Solved Blocking Computer from going on line

I did disable it by putting a tick in the check box next to "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN ...”

Typed in "0.0.0.0" in the address box and "80" in the Port box,

now IE comes back with " can not display site"

I still would like to do it via the router, but I will have to read up on it.
also, I will not be in the office next week, so it will have to wait.

Thanks

Sven

Well, I must have done something right, because I tried to log in with teamviewer,
and it will not let me. it just sits there and tells me "connecting", but it never does.
So any incoming transmission is blocked.

Since I am at home, I can not check outgoing.
I do that when I am back in the office

Hi all,
update:
I just got to the office, and apparently what I did in my post 5 worked just fine.
I tried to update defender and it tells me to connect to the internet and try again.
All is working as it should

Microsoft will still issue certain updates for XP, even after the EOL date. Not allowing it to access the Internet, means that you now have more work then needed, to keep the Anti-Virus/Malware software updated.

Depending on the hardware in that XP machine. You may be able to load Windows 7 on it.

This was what I was looking for.
no access to the internet, but full access to all computers and printers and scanners.
This thing just became a glorified typewriter.
most of the time it will be turned off, but once in a while we might need it to do some work in Office.

If your running a business i would only use a good router like a belkin or alike , it should enable back up config so if it fails you can reset and reload network, MAC addressing is essential but can create problems if you dont include laptops or thin clients if you want to work of site, it should include intrusion detection and DoS attack settings... the better you setup your network the more work you will get done with less config drama, also Win8 and WinXP networking is very hard and not stable and Microsoft's way of forcing upgrading.. also as of today XP is no longer supported so it will need to be imaged or if it has errors and needs to be fixed you will have only one choice.. Linux or bin .. with a good router you can use IP config to control the Internet on the Network... so 192.168.254.2 can be on 192.168.254.3 can be off and 192.168.254.4 could be limited with time schedules and profanity settings...
